SIOUX FALLS, S.D., May 7, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- In the annual Governor's Giant Vision Competition organized by the South Dakota Chamber of Commerce & Industry, cybersecurity startup Query.AI was awarded second winner among 8 finalists selected from 26 applying companies.

Today's cybersecurity teams have overwhelming obligations but limited bandwidth to investigate alerts and/or hunt for threats. Query.AI helps organizations rise to the challenge and proactively collaborate and run investigative cybersecurity playbooks. The solution includes an AI console that produces automated analytics and enables easy interaction with cybersecurity log data. Query.AI doesn't duplicate data and instead runs as an assistive app on top of existing log repositories such as Splunk and Elasticsearch.

"The federal government is recognizing the huge shortage of cybersecurity talent, as seen in last week's presidential executive order and mirroring bi-partisan legislation that passed in the Senate. Solutions such as Query.AI can help bridge the gaps by using AI-assistance and by capturing and collaborating on investigative security tasks" – said Query.AI founder Dhiraj Sharan. "With help from Research Park, our incubator, we are excited to build a hi-tech mid-western engineering team with talent sourced from universities like SDSU and DSU that produce CS, data science and cybersecurity graduates." – Dhiraj added.

South Dakota Chamber of Commerce and Industry President David Owen stated, "The goal of this program is to encourage people to explore being a business owner and to create an exciting future while also expanding the state's economy. We have worked hard to produce an event that will benefit all of the businesses participating. While the prize money will help the finalists, the contacts and rigor required to be a qualifier will prepare each entrepreneur to advance their business idea."

The final selection of winners was made by a panel of Judges that consists of venture capitalists, educators, financiers, and established business leaders. The selection criteria is based on several industry trends. The collective statement of the Judges in this regard stated, "Selection of winners is based on a combination of the viability of the business proposal, including considerations of potential competition, the likelihood of success, market size, and profitability. The Judges give heavier weighting to business proposals that have the potential to advance employment or the economic base in South Dakota."
